Sm02 Testing: Saturation of Muscle Oxygen testing is the cutting edge of performance science. Sensors will be used to measure the exact amount of oxygen being used to power your muscles throughout training sessions and performances. Connect it with a compatible running watch and see when you are nearing your lactate threshold in real-time. No more relying solely on HR data to provide a guestimate of your training zones. We are the only performance lab to offer this type of testing in the state of Iowa.
 
Critical Power Testing: Critical Power is used to determine the force being applied every time your foot strikes the ground. Our tests allow you to see how you can better observe and manage your power output throughout a training session and race. Compatible watches can allow you to view this data instantaneously on the run. Critical Power has long been a staple of bikers to allow them to best utilize their energy during training and competition. Our performance lab is the only one in the state of Iowa providing this testing and analysis.
V02 Max Testing: Many training programs simply provide you with a basic calculation to figure out a general V02 number which you can use to identify training paces. Our host facility “Engineered Per4mance” in Ankeny, IA has a V02 treadmill with an oxygen mask to measure gas respiration. This method provides the athlete with the exact V02 number for their current fitness. No more guessing with calculations using charts from the 1970s. This highly specific test will analyze your oxygen consumption to allow you to train to your optimized potential.
 
Traditional HR Testing and Treadmill Gait Analysis: While these may not be the most “cutting edge” lab tests, they still remain tried and true methods to assist with injury prevention and increase performance. Our performance coaches will work with on-site physical therapists, chiropractors, and massage therapists to determine how we can address any concerns observed in the gait analysis.
 
 
Athlete Profile Builder – Using all of the tests above, a unique athlete profile will be built specifically for you to assist in helping you optimize your training and racing. From there you will work with Coach Tilus on developing a training plan that will help you achieve your goals at whatever race distance you will be focusing on.
